Best Overall Christian Movies About Miracles
1. Jesus Revolution (2023)
Rating: PG-13
This is one of my favorite true-story miracle movies. It’s not about physical healing, but something more powerful — a revival of faith that swept California and the country in the late 1960s and 1970s.
The Jesus Movement is considered one of the most remarkable spiritual awakenings in modern American history.
It’s a film about spiritual healing and how God calls ordinary people to be part of his bigger story. It follows teenager Greg Laurie (played by Joel Courtney).
He meets street-preacher hippie named Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie) and a traditional pastor named Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer).
As the film unfolds, they overcome challenges and see thousands seek meaning, purpose, and belief in Jesus.
Why watch: This revival story captures miraculous transformations, inspiring modern audiences with the enduring impact of faith movements in Christian cinema for families.

2. I Can Only Imagine (2018)
Rating: PG
This is a deeply moving Christian movie about Bart Millard, lead singer of the band MercyMe, and the painful and redemptive story of how he wrote one of the most popular worship songs of all time.
Growing up in Texas, young Bart endured a difficult childhood marked by his father Arthur’s anger and abuse.
After his parents divorced when he was just three, Bart eventually lived with his dad, whose harsh words and physical pain left deep wounds.
Music became Bart’s escape, and through God’s gentle leading, he found community and purpose in a church youth group.
Yet the hurt from his past continued to shape him. Until God asked him to return to his hometown, where he saw a miraculous salvation: His father, a hard and difficult man, came to faith in Jesus.
When I first saw this film, its message stayed with me for a long. Whenever I wonder if someone can really change, I can’t help but think of this movie.
Why watch: This story of forgiveness and God's healing transforms viewers' perspectives, highlighting how personal testimonies become powerful tools in Christian movies about modern-day miracles.

3. The Shack (2017)
Rating: PG-13
This is a fictional movie based on the bestselling novel “The Shack” by William Paul Young.
Many Christians have found this film to be an impactful depiction of how God works in grief and doubt.
I add it to this list with a caveat, however. It’s NOT a Christian movie in the Biblical sense, and I don’t think any Christian should interpret it as a literal depiction of heaven, because it’s not.
(It was a divisive film among Christians at the time, so if you’re worried about its theology, please skip it. There are plenty of other Christian testimony movies on this list!)
The movie follows Mackenzie “Mack” Phillips, a man whose world shatters when his youngest daughter, Missy, is tragically taken from him.
Overcome with anger and questions about God’s goodness, Mack receives a mysterious invitation to return to the remote shack where the unthinkable happened.
There, in an unexpected encounter, Mack meets God in a way that challenges everything he thought he knew about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Why watch: This moving exploration of spiritual healing touches those grieving, weaving in God's miracles depicted in movies to foster forgiveness and restoration.

4. The Cokeville Miracle (2015)
Rating: PG-13
This real-life miracle story recounts the astonishing events of May 16, 1986, in the small town of Cokeville, Wyoming.
On that ordinary Friday afternoon, a former town marshal named David Young and his wife, Doris, took over 150 children and teachers hostage in a first-grade classroom, armed with guns and a homemade gasoline bomb.
They demanded a ransom and threatened to blow up the school. As fear filled the room, teachers and students turned to prayer, singing hymns and crying out to God for protection.
When the bomb accidentally detonated, the explosion should have killed everyone inside.
Instead, the blast was strangely contained. (You’ll had to watch to find out what that meant!)
Why watch: It’s an inspirational movie about God’s divine intervention and the power of prayer.

5. Heaven Is for Real (2014)
Rating: PG
I remember seeing this movie in the theater when it was released and being amazed at the real-life story of Colton Burp, a four-year-old boy from Nebraska.
During an emergency appendectomy, Colton says he visited heaven and met Jesus.
He shared stories that his family says he wouldn’t have been able to know, such as a sister who had miscarried and his great-grandfather, who had died before Colton was born.
He spoke of heaven’s colors, the angels singing, and sitting in Jesus’ lap, all with childlike wonder and confidence.
The book, which the film is based on, is absolutely worth a read.
Why watch: This faith-based film has brought hope to many as it points to Jesus, heaven, and life beyond this world.

Rating: PG
This is a fictional movie that was inspired by the real-life experiences of faith, prayer, and the Biblical promise of Matthew 17:20.

14. 90 Minutes in Heaven (2015)
Rating: PG-13
This powerful Christian movie brings to life the remarkable testimony of Pastor Don Piper.
His near-death experience and long recovery have encouraged millions to trust in God’s faithfulness even through the darkest valleys.
On January 18, 1989, Don Piper was driving home from a church conference in Texas when a semi-truck crossed into his lane, crushing his car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by multiple first responders, and his body lay covered by a tarp for 90 minutes.
During that time, Don says he experienced the indescribable joy of heaven. He was greeted by loved ones and surrounded by worship so beautiful it defies words.
Then, in a moment many call a modern-day miracle, another pastor who had been at the same conference felt led by the Holy Spirit to stop and pray over the wreckage.

15. The Hill (2023)
Rating: PG
My family loved this movie! It’s an inspirational film that tells the true story of Rickey Hill, who was born with degenerative spinal disease but refused to let physical limitations steal his dream of playing professional baseball.
From a young age in rural Texas, Rickey wore leg braces and endured constant pain, yet he persevered.
Doctors doubted he would ever walk normally. His father, a devoted Baptist pastor played by Dennis Quaid, feared that playing would further his injuries.
Despite challenges, however, Rickey’s determination and faith in Jesus propelled him forward.
Against all odds, Rickey trained relentlessly and earned a tryout with a major league scout.
While this isn’t a story of divine healing, I believe it’s a compelling depiction of God being with us in our suffering and working through our challenges.
As it says in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Why watch: This story illustrates God's faithfulness in overcoming physical challenges, offering encouragement for those facing health trials.
