Does God answer prayers?
As Christians, we believe God hears and answers our prayers. It’s common to feel frustrated, discouraged, or to start doubting God if he has not answered your prayer yet. One way to think about God’s answer to prayer is the various ways he may respond:
Yes. Sometimes, God answers prayers immediately, in a little bit, or later on. An example is when Jesus promises the disciples that God will give the Holy Spirit to all those who ask (Luke 11:13). God’s timing may be different than the timing we want, however.
Not right now. God may answer at some point in the future or may direct you on a path.
No. Sometimes God tells us no. It may not make sense now and it may not necessarily make sense in the future. It’s OK to wrestle with God and express your anger, frustration, or disappointment in his answer while still trusting that he loves you. Expressing your feelings to God maintains your relationship with God in an honest and real way.
