Editorial Standards & Content Integrity
Last updated: January 17, 2026
At Faith Storytellers, we believe that personal testimonies and Christian stories about their relationship with God are powerful tools for encouraging and sharing your faith.
We are committed to publishing first-person, true stories of Christians and are committed to the highest standards of integrity, authenticity, and safety.
1. Story verification process
Faith Storytellers welcomes submissions that are true and specific to an individual’s personal relationship with the Christian God.
We require all storytellers to publish their first and last names, a headshot of themselves, and, when possible, photos from the time their story takes place.
We ask all storytellers to share a bio and link to their public websites or social media profiles when appropriate.
We ask all storytellers to personally write their stories themselves (not AI).
We require all storytellers to sign a release of materials statement attesting that their stories are true and that they either own the copyright or have permission from the copyright owner to submit the image for publication.
We require all stories to be written as a narrative, first-person story as described in the Faith Storytellers Framework and adhere to the standards established in the Faith Story Guardrails.
We require all storytellers to revise their story in collaboration with Faith Storytellers Editor Mackenzie Ryan Walters, a former journalist who’s won state and national awards.
We fact-check geographical, historical, or Biblical references mentioned within the story to ensure the context that is shared is accurate.
2. Story experience and expertise
All faith stories are edited multiple times to ensure quality and clarity.
All stories are first-person accounts that share only what the storyteller has personally experienced.
All stories are edited to avoid preaching or teaching. Instead, storytellers are asked to limit their stories to what they personally experienced and believe to be true.
All stories are edited to protect the privacy and dignity of third parties, and in some cases, names, details, and other specifics are not included in published stories.
Per the Faith Story Guardrails, all stories are required to be PG or PG-13. This may naturally limit what stories are selected for publication.
At times, Faith Storytellers has the discretion to add in clarifying statements to make clear that the story is specific to the author’s situation and may not universally apply.
Storytellers represent a wide variety of Christian denominations and practices. We treat all Christians with respect and dignity. We do this by asking storytellers to focus their story on their personal relationship with God and not on theological or denominational differences.
3. Story accuracy and correction
If a story is found to contain inaccuracies, we provide a transparent update or correction and, in specific cases, may unpublished a story at our discretion.
If a story is inaccurate, please contact our editorial team.
4. Editorial independence and discression
Faith Storytellers does not accept payment or “pay-to-play” fees for the publication of personal faith stories. Our selection process is based solely on the quality of the narrative and alignment with our mission.
In addition, we reserve the right to decline publication or remove any story for any reason, at our sole discretion.
While we value every person’s faith journey, not every submission is the best fit for our platform or mission. Reasons may include, but are not limited to:
Failure to write a story according to our Faith Storytellers Framework or that aligns with our Faith Story Guardrails
Concerns regarding the safety or privacy of individuals mentioned in the story.
Inability to verify the identity of the author or the facts of the story.
Submissions that contain inflammatory, disrespectful, or divisive language.
Stories that do not meet our quality standards for clarity, specificity, and storytelling.
We are under no obligation to provide a detailed explanation for why a story was not selected for publication.
